After graduating from Groton FDR then attend Harvard in 1990. After being in school for a few weeks his father passed away from a heart ailment. During his school year he began doing many extracurricular activities which helped him socially but made his grades average. He became very active in his school newpaper The Harvard Crimson, and became its editor in 1903. Also in 1903 he recieved his undergraduate degree but he returned for a year of graduate work. He declared himself to be a member of the Democratic Party while attending Harvard.
